21st Annual Impaired Driving Conference


October 5-6, 2026

The Kansas Highway Patrol, Drug and Alcohol Evaluation Unit, in cooperation with the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office, the Kansas Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutor, the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office and the Kansas Department of Transportation – Bureau of Transportation Safety and Technology, is offering a FREE two day course featuring presentations from nationally recognized speakers and subject matter experts from Kansas. This annual training event covers legal and ethical issues involved in drug and alcohol impaired driving cases for prosecutors, law enforcement.  Lunch will be provided each day – attendees only need to cover the cost of lodging and dinner on Monday.

Prosecutor of the Year Award Nomination

This award is presented annually to a prosecutor who has distinguished themselves among their peers as they seek justice, hold offenders accountable, and protect the rights of victims in impaired driving and vehicular homicide cases. Nominees will exhibit true leadership in vehicular fatality, DUI, and/or traffic specific prosecution that goes above and beyond their basic job description. Examples may include the use of innovative approaches, community outreach, training initiatives, including the outstanding prosecution of a case or cases throughout the year. This award will be given at the conference.

Nominees will exhibit true leadership in DRE that goes above and beyond their basic job description. Examples may include the use of innovative approaches, community resource, training initiatives, number of DRE evaluations, or the outstanding assistance in the prosecution of a case or cases throughout the year. This award will be given at the conference.
