Become a Child Passenger Safety Technician
The majority of car seats are installed incorrectly, so to help parents and caregivers ensure children are as safe as possible in vehicles, KTSRO hosts Child Passenger Safety Technician Training courses around Kansas throughout the year.
The course is 3-4 days and, upon its completion, will certify successful participants as a National Child Passenger Safety Technician through Safe Kids Worldwide for 2 years. KTSRO also provides yearly opportunities for recertification.
Course fee is $95. For more information on becoming a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician, visit cert.safekids.org

Safe Travel for All Children: Transporting Children with Special Healthcare Needs
“Safe Travel for All Children: Transporting Children with Special Healthcare Needs” is designed to serve as an enrichment training for child passenger safety technicians who are interested in learning more about special needs transportation.
The two-day training combines classroom lectures and discussions with hands-on exercises including interactions with families. Participants will be introduced to medical conditions that can affect restraint selection and have the opportunity to investigate and install specialized restraint systems. The training includes a written exam and proficiency check-offs that evaluate the student’s ability to assess appropriate restraints and to demonstrate proper use and installation.

CHECK BACK FOR UPCOMING OPPORTUNITIES
Renewal testing is for any CPST whose certification has expired in the past year.
Cost is $95 for a two-year certification.
The renewal testing class will be held at the KTSRO office, with a check lane the last two hours in the parking lot.
