Safe Travel for All Children: Transporting Children with Special Healthcare Needs

“Safe Travel for All Children: Transporting Children with Special Healthcare Needs” is designed to serve as an enrichment training for child passenger safety technicians who are interested in learning more about special needs transportation.

The two-day training combines classroom lectures and discussions with hands-on exercises including interactions with families. Participants will be introduced to medical conditions that can affect restraint selection and have the opportunity to investigate and install specialized restraint systems. The training includes a written exam and proficiency check-offs that evaluate the student’s ability to assess appropriate restraints and to demonstrate proper use and installation.

Become a Child Passenger Technician!

You must be at least 18 years old at the time the course starts. The standardized child passenger safety technician (CPST) certification course is 4 days long and combines classroom instruction, hands-on work with car seats and vehicles, and a community safety seat checkup. Attendance is required for the entire course. This is a physically demanding class. Students will be literally climbing in and out of a variety of vehicles, outdoors during the hands-on practice exercises and while participating in the public check up event. Dress should be casual and appropriate to the weather.  There are several dates in different locations. Please see below for registration information.
