This is NOT an update or refresher course.  It provides a brief overview of the technical information contained in the most recent version of the NHTSA curriculum, verifies technical skills through hands-on testing, and assesses CPS knowledge through an on-site written test. Booster to Belts Update for Current Road Team Members

After leaving the training you will:
• Have a brand new program to present to youth in your communities.
• Have resources to identify potential audiences and contacts within those audiences.
• Have tips on how to gain access into schools. (Yes- even during testing season!!!)
• Learn how to do all of your presentation reporting on-line.
• Gain some tricks for your presentation bag.
• Collaborate with others across the state working hard to prevent vehicular childhood injuries- just like you!

Child Passenger Safety CEU Opportunities

Child Passenger Safety Instructor Update—6 CEU’s

This year’s Instructor Update will be open to all CPS Instructors and those CPS Technicians who work closely with school districts.

The training will be on the new national training “Child Passenger Safety Restraint Systems on School Buses” with course objectives:

· Overview of CSRS
· School bus occupant protection systems
· Challenges of school bus drivers in transporting infants and preschool age children
· Issues when using CSRS on buses
· Federal role in occupant protection and safety standards
· Instruction in correct installation of CSRS including children with special needs.

Motorcycle Training

Certified Training Officers of the Kansas City, Kansas and Leawood, Kansas police departments will be conducting an eighty-hour Police Motorcycle Operator training course.

The Kansas City region has long been known as one that produces skilled police motorcycle operators. Instructors from the Kansas City area train together and coordinate training using standards set forth by Northwestern University and IPTM.
